Banner Supply Company
Banner Supply Company celebrated its 100th anniversary Friday at its Youngstown location, 103 E. Indianola Ave., Youngstown.
The milestone marked a century of family ownership, growth and service to the building industry, as well as five generations of the Abel family helping lead the company.
Banner Supply's roots date back to Sept. 4, 1926, when construction was completed on the company's original building in Youngstown. Built and financed by John S. Abel of New Castle, Pa., the business later came under the leadership of his son, Edward J. Abel.
Banner began by manufacturing the Banner Mahoning coal furnace and distributing building and HVAC supplies. The company grew locally through slate roofing and expanded its reach nationally through cast furnace parts produced in its own foundry.
In the 1960s, Edward J. Abel Jr. and Richard W. Abel joined the family business after completing their education at the University of Notre Dame. Under that generation of leadership, Banner continued to expand its products, services and geographic footprint, establishing locations in Warren, Cleveland, Akron and Greensburg.
Banner also became the first company in Northeastern Ohio to offer rooftop delivery service to the trade using cranes and conveyor trucks. Today, the company operates from a 500,000-square-foot complex in Youngstown and maintains a companywide fleet of more than 50 trucks.
Now, members of the fifth generation are employed in responsible positions within the business, continuing the family tradition as Banner enters its next century.
BANG! Hair Studio
The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber joined BANG! Hair Studio to celebrate the salon's expansion and relocation with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday at its new location, 130 Churchill-Hubbard Road, Liberty.
The celebration marks a major milestone for BANG! Hair Studio, which has grown significantly since opening 17 years ago. The business has relocated from its original 850-square-foot salon into a new 3,600-square-foot space, allowing it to expand its team, introduce additional services and enhance the experience it provides to guests.
BANG! Hair Studio is an inclusive, education-focused salon offering haircuts, custom color, blonding, extensions, styling and makeup, along with head spa treatments, Korean lash lifts, brow laminations, full-body waxing and spray tanning.

Brewed AwakeningCoffee House
Brewed Awakening Coffee House, joined by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, will present a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Oct. 2, at 7120 Brookwood Drive, Brookfield.
Brewed Awakening Coffee House officially opened its doors Sept. 5, bringing a new locally owned coffee shop and gathering space to the Brookfield community. Since opening, the business has received strong community support and has already begun building a base of returning customers.
Created to be more than simply a place to grab a cup of coffee, Brewed Awakening was designed as a welcoming space where community members can gather, relax, meet with friends, work or simply enjoy time together.
Owner Leah Lopeno saw a need for additional coffee and gathering options in the Brookfield area and felt the location was an ideal fit, particularly because of its proximity to the Brookfield Local School District and Trumbull County Court.
Brewed Awakening's menu features coffee and signature lattes, dirty sodas, refreshers and a variety of food options. Waffles have quickly become a customer favorite, while açaí bowls, mini pancakes and grab-and-go selections provide additional choices.
Sweet Sparkle Nails
The Eastwood Mall in Niles has announced the upcoming opening of Sweet Sparkle Nails, a unique beauty and gift destination that will open its doors Oct. 1.
Sweet Sparkle Nails will offer customers a creative and personalized nail experience featuring a wide selection of handmade and hand-painted press-on nails, as well as custom nail designs. The store is staffed by a talented team of seven nail artists dedicated to helping customers find the perfect style.
In addition to nail products and services, Sweet Sparkle Nails will feature an assortment of hand-crocheted plush toys and children's gifts creating a one-of-a-kind shopping destination for guests of all ages.

The Paws Lodge presented a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 17 at 3742 U.S. Route 422, Southington.
The celebration marked the opening of The Paws Lodge, which opened its doors in August.
The Paws Lodge provides a safe, fun and affordable place for dogs and cats to be cared for while their owners are away, at work or otherwise unable to be with their pets. The family-owned business was created from a love of animals and a desire to build a livelihood around caring for them.

Local photographer Megan Flynn will celebrate the opening of Flynn Studios, a new photography and creative studio in downtown Girard and the new home of MMFlynn Photography, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 29.

The Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive, Austintown, celebrated the opening of its new Telehealth Health and Wellness Room with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 20.
The new Telehealth Health and Wellness Room was made possible through an AARP Community Challenge Grant and was created to give older adults in the community greater access to healthcare, wellness resources and technology in a comfortable and supportive environment.
The Austintown Senior Center serves as a resource, support system and place of connection for older adults throughout the community. Its programs and services promote healthy aging, independence, social connection, education and overall well-being.
