NILES — Dick’s Sporting Goods will unveil its next-generation, new store format with a three-day grand opening celebration starting Friday at the Eastwood Mall.

Relocating from its former 52,000-square-foot building in the adjacent Great East Plaza — a fixture of the Eastwood Mall Complex since 2004 — Dick’s Sporting Goods has transformed into a state-of-the-art 72,000-square-foot anchor position within the enclosed mall. This major relocation and expansion completely reimagines the traditional sporting goods layout and represents yet another significant community investment at the Eastwood Mall Complex, according to a news release from Dick’s.

The new store format features an evolved selection of team sports gear across baseball, softball, soccer, football, lacrosse and hockey.

Interactive highlights of the new location revolutionize the traditional retail environment. The store features a House of Cleats, which offers athletes a 360-degree showcase of more than 400 top-tier cleat options across multiple sports and more than 1,000 styles of premium footwear overall.

For golf enthusiasts, the location boasts golf hitting bays equipped with Trackman and Foresight simulator technology, allowing players to utilize state-of-the-art tracking for custom club fittings and game improvement.

“Dick’s Sporting Goods’ major expansion and relocation is the perfect showcase for the incredible momentum happening here,” said Johnny Chechitelli, the complex’s regional director of marketing and communications. “Over the past few years, tens of millions of dollars have been invested across the Eastwood Mall Complex. This is purely private funding — no government assistance or grants — making it a level of independent investment that is unique within this region.

To celebrate the new space, Dick’s Sporting Goods will host a three-day event Friday through Sunday. The weekend will kick off with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Friday and feature mystery gift card giveaways, sweepstakes and the “Dick’s Grand Challenge,” with photo ops, trivia, games and a DJ.

The highlight of the weekend takes place noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday when Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward visits the store for an exclusive autograph signing.

A total of 250 wristbands will be distributed on-site on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 10 a.m. Sunday. Wristbands are required to attend the autograph appearance.
