Southwoods Health marks third decade

Southwoods Health will celebrate 30 years of delivering patient care to the Mahoning Valley on Wednesday.

The Surgery Center at Southwoods opened June 10, 1996, with a vision: health care should be accessible, efficient, compassionate and centered on the patient experience.

According to Ed Muransky, Southwoods Health CEO, that vision helped reshape how care is delivered across the region.

“We gave residents more options for reliable, high-quality care closer to home,” Muransky said. “From the beginning, we challenged the idea that patients needed to travel far to receive advanced services.

“Instead, we focused on bringing that level of care directly into our community — combining strong clinical outcomes with compassion, convenience and a commitment to doing what’s right for patients.”

Today, Southwoods has grown into a fully integrated health care system designed to support patients at every stage of their health care journey. Southwoods includes a network of more than 300 providers and offers a surgical hospital, advanced diagnostic imaging, physical therapy and rehabilitation, home health, express care and sleep medicine services.

“Southwoods is powered by more than 1,500 dedicated team members who bring skill, compassion and purpose to their work every day,” Muransky said. “Their commitment is the driving force behind our ability to deliver consistent, patient-centered care across the entire system.”
