New vehicle sales top ’23 mark in Northern Ohio

CLEVELAND — New motor vehicle sales in 2024 topped the previous year’s sales by a margin of 3.99%, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA).

Franchised dealers in Northern Ohio recorded 219,200 new vehicle sales, compared to 210,789 in 2023.

In December 2024, dealers sold 18,602 new cars, trucks and SUVs, an increase of 16.5% compared to the same month a year prior.

Used vehicle sales last year totaled 219,200, a decrease of 1.09% from 2023.

At year’s end, Chevrolet remained the region’s best-selling brand, with 2,547 new vehicles sold in the month, and 30,234 in all of 2024. Ford’s second-place finish resulted from 2,234 sales in December, followed by Honda with 1,690 new vehicle sales. Toyota and Kia rounded out the top five with 1,438 and 1,385 sales, respectively.
