MERCY HEALTH EARNS LAB ACCREDITATION: Mercy Health recently earned the highest designation of Electrodiagnostic (EDX) Laboratory Accreditation given by the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine -- Laboratory Accreditation with Exemplary Status. The reaccreditation is valid through 2027.
Mercy Health has been accredited since May 2012, and is one of eight accredited labs in Ohio.
EDX medicine is a subspecialty that focuses on the nervous system and diagnosing the cause of symptoms related to neurologic, neuromuscular and muscular impairments. EDX is used to evaluate a patients nerves and muscles to treat pain, tingling, numbness, weakness, cramping and more.
EDX Laboratory Accreditation acknowledges laboratories for maintaining the highest level of quality, performance and integrity based on the association's professional standards. The standards evaluate diagnostic services and clinical operations essential to providing quality patient care.
FIRSTENERGY PICKED: For the fifth year in a row, FirstEnergy Corp. has been named by Site Selection magazine as one of the nation's leading utilities in promoting economic development, helping to attract more than 12,000 new jobs and $7.3 billion in third-party corporate facility investment in its six-state service area, which includes Ohio, in 2022.
Twenty Site Selection award winners were chosen from a field of more than 3,300 electric companies and cooperatives across the country. They were recognized for complementing reliable power delivery to their customers with a hands-on approach to encouraging business development in their operational areas.
FirstEnergy's economic development team influenced 86 major projects in 2022.
The company has been recognized 19 times in the past 21 years by Site Selection.
COURSE RECOGNIZES EMPLOYEES: Kennsington Golf Course, 4171 Westford Place, Canfield, recently celebrated the dedication of it's Golf Superintendent, Sean Novotny, and his groundskeeping crew with a "Thank A Superintendent Day."
In recognition of the staff, along with Kennsington's horticulture and landscaping team, each employee received a gift card to Kennsington Grille.
Kennsington Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 71, public golf course designed by award-winning golf course architect, Brian Huntley. The course is 7,044 yards. Kennsington Grille is located just off the green at the clubhouse.
AIM INNOVATES: Aim Transportation Solutions, headquartered in Youngstown, has launched a road rescue feature to its smartphone app, Aim Navigator.
The function, which streamlines the way Aim customer drivers request roadside service, has caught the eye of the Commercial Carrier Journal, which recently profiled the Aim Navigator add-on.
The function allows drivers to text with Aim's Road Rescue department and it can translate languages in real time.
Aim Navigator also allows drivers and customers to complete, submit, store and retrieve their driver vehicle inspection reports; it gives real-time status updates on Aim Integrated Logistics-managed deliveries, including estimated arrive times and current locations; and gives customers snapshots of fuel economy, cost per stop and cost per mile.
LOCAL FIRM PRESENTS AT CONFERENCE: Representatives from Farris Marketing in Boardman presented a special instructional session for attendees of the 2023 Ohio Needs Transit Conference & OPTA Expo last week in Columbus.
Hosted by Ohio Public Transit Association (OPTA) it brought together more than 400 transit professionals from Ohio's 63 transit agencies across the state.
Farris Marketing CEO George Farris, and Vice President of Client Service Makenna Ozenghar, were invited to present to the group based on their experience working with public service agency clients across the U.S. They presented a course titled "Building Brand Value with Community Engagement."
Earlier this year, Farris won a national award from the American Public Transportation Association on behalf of client Western Reserve Transit Authority for first place in the category Communications Educational Initiative and Special Event.
OUTING RAISES FUNDS FOR EGCC: Eastern Gateway Community College, which has a campus in downtown Youngstown, raised $22,000 to benefit the Student Support Fund for Academic and Career Success at the college's third annual golf outing held recently at the Knoll Run Golf Course in Lowellville.
Eastern Gateway is a state, public, accredited institution of higher learning dedicated to providing a debt-free, college degree to students from Columbiana, Jefferson, Mahoning and Trumbull counties, across Ohio and other locations.

TWO OPEN AT EWM: Two new businesses at the Eastwood Mall Complex celebrated grand openings last week.
McAlister's Deli, which has a menu of sandwiches, spuds, salads and sweet tea, and Auto Evolution / Noel's Car Toys, which offers detailing services and after-market products for vehicles of all kinds, opened in the newly developed section of the complex near Boscov's.

NEW DIRECTOR AT BRITE: BRITE Energy Innovators in Warren has appointed Victoria Rusu as the organization's new director of strategic partnerships, a role in which she will work to develop relationships that advance the energy revolution in Ohio and the Midwest.
Her background includes positions in community development, marketing, tech startups, entrepreneurial efforts, nonprofit administration, international community partnerships and global corporate development.
She is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in business administration.
FARMERS GROWS INSURANCE TEAM: Canfield-based Farmers National Bank recently hired Joseph Pinciaro Jr. to work as an insurance representative based in Boardman.
Pinciaro, a graduate of Youngstown State University, specializes in commercial, personal and life insurance.
He serves as president of the Boardman Football Alumni Association and is treasurer of the Boardman Soccer Boosters.
