Two Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber staff members, Melissa Maiorano and David Wilaj, have earned "Best in Class" economic developer certification through the Ohio Economic Development Institute, the chamber announced.

The certification recognizes their expertise and contributions to economic development in the Valley.

Wilaj, director of the Mahoning Valley Logistics Council, dedicated his capstone project to conducting an analysis of the logistics industry in the Valley, with a special focus on vehicle electrification. The research has shed light on the state of the logistics industry and its potential for growth and innovation in the region.

Maiorano, director of Workforce Development, spearheaded creation of the region's workforce coalition as the centerpiece of her capstone project. Her work led to the establishment of a collaborative and impactful platform that bridges the gap between employers and job seekers.

Guy Coviello, chamber president / CEO, said, "Their OhioCED certification is a testament to their leadership, knowledge and passion for economic development. Their hard work and dedication will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of the Valley."

The program is designed to recognize professionals who have demonstrated exceptional skills and knowledge in economic development.
