YOUNGSTOWN -- Thirteen women in the Women Entrepreneurship (WE) Program through the Minority Business Assistance Center at the Youngstown Business Incubator will pitch their business ideas for a $500 grant Wednesday.
After four weeks of the program, the women will spend their last night of WE Create class presenting their completed business model canvas to a panel of judges. The presentations will include course material they've learned in the program and give the grant winner the chance to invest in the idea they pitched.

Brandi Gilmer, Ms. Brandi's Catering;
Angela Shaw, Nurse Angela;
Vashyanna Penn, YHSAV Initiative;
Natalie Grant, traveling notary services;
Bernadette McRae-Elliott, The "E" Spot;
Loretta Lane, Russ's Charging Station;
Chayla Johnson, C.K.M. Cha.K.Merchandise LLC;
Missi Mangino, Reflective Media and EyeView Media;
Delmara Daniels, New Living Property Management;
Savannah Berk, coffee shop and bakery.
"Pitch night is always such an exciting and emotional time for the women in the class. It is the first time, for most, that they are hearing themselves talking about their business in a way that will catch the eye of potential investors," Tanisha Wheeler, director of YBI's Women & Youth Entrepreneurship Programs, said.
While the WE Program offers three accelerated programs at YBI, WE Create is a five-week course focusing explicitly on women at the beginning stages of entrepreneurship. Through collaboration and support, participants discover whether their business idea is viable and have the tools needed to generate a successful business plan.
