MASURY -- Progressive Pipe Fabricators, a division of Fort Wayne, Ind.-based construction and engineer services firm Shambaugh & Son, plans to open a 50,000-square-foot fabrication plant in Masury to manufacture fire sprinkler systems.
It will add 75 new full-time jobs to the region and generate about $4.1 million in payroll by December 2025, according to the Ohio Tax Credit Authority, which has awarded a 1.4 percent, seven-year state job creation tax credit to the project.
Ohio was competing with Indiana and Pennsylvania for the project. The facility is planned for 1433 Standard Ave.
The company will fabricate and deliver more than 20,000 individual sprinklers per week and have the capacity to ship more than 1 million pounds of fabricated sprinkler pipe per week.
"By expanding our fabrication capabilities throughout the United States, our new shop will now serve a much larger geographic area. What's even more exciting is that while we're expanding our reach, we're simultaneously bolstering our sustainability efforts by reducing fuel consumption and improving speed to market," said Rob Vincent, Shambaugh's chief operating officer, fire protection.
The credit is worth an estimated $390,000 if the company meets all of the requirements of the agreement.
"The job creation tax credit is a performance-based credit," said Dan Bowerman, a spokesman for the Ohio Department of Development. "So, the actual value of the tax credit is based on jobs created and new payroll tax generated, as verified."
The Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber; JobsOhio, the state's private nonprofit economic development corporation; the state; and Team NEO, an economic development organization that serves 18 northeast Ohio counties, collaborated with Progressive Pipe Fabricators on the project.

Progressive Pipe Fabricators is a custom fire fabrication and specialty welding operation with locations in Alabama, Arizona, Indiana and Ohio, according to its website. Shambaugh & Son is a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., a Fortune 500 company.
