Ponderosa restaurant in Warren closes

WARREN — The last Ponderosa Steakhouse in the Mahoning Valley, and one of the few remaining in Ohio, has closed.

A message posted Tuesday to the door of the restaurant, 3581 Elm Road, informed the public of the closure as did a message on the marquee. “Thank you for letting us be a part of your community for many years,” the note on the door went on to state.

According to the property data with the Trumbull County Auditor’s Office, the site is owned by Butler, Pa.-based Armstrong Foods Inc., which acquired the 2.3 acres in January 1990.

Ponderosa’s website shows it has restaurants in Columbus, Hillsboro and Wheelersburg. The website states a Ponderosa in Calcutta in Columbiana County is closed temporarily.
