VIRTUAL LECTURE AT YSU: Carmella M. Williams, a 2005 business administration graduate of Youngstown State University and now director of Diversity and Inclusion at the Youngstown Business Incubator, will give a virtual lecture, "Empowerment through Entrepreneurship," 7 p.m. Thursday.

TWO JOIN MVCAP BOARD: The Mahoning Valley College Access Program (MVCAP) has added to its board of trustees Jack Pico and James Ritter to three-year terms.

Pico, a practicing attorney for more than 30 years, is magistrate of the Trumbull County Family Court, in which he adjudicates divorce, dissolution, custody, support, juvenile criminal, civil contempt and visitation cases. Previously, he worked in private practice.

James M. Ritter, Ph.D., has spent nearly 30 years in education, with 25 of those years in higher education, serving students at Kent State University at Trumbull.

He started as an admissions counselor and advanced to director of enrollment management, student services and advising. He also served as director of Undergraduate Student Services at Youngstown State University's Williamson College of Business Administration.

MVCAP provides services to students and families through the presence of college guides and advisers who receive support from AmeriCorps and CollegeNow as part of Serve Ohio. MVCAP college guides serve Warren G. Harding, Youngstown East and Chaney high schools and the Youngstown Rayen Early College, as well as Campbell High School, and helps students with financial advising, deciding on career paths and more.

the Move

HD DAVIS, WHITE GLOVE ADD STAFF: Liberty-based HD Davis CPAs and White Glove Payroll in Youngstown have added four new employees to the team.

Cody Dorman is now the third fully remote staff member. He is working from Florida, where he is finishing his accounting studies, as a full-time staff accountant.

Lindsay Rice has joined the administrative team, which is revamping the virtual office organization.

Kristin Oliver came on board as a senior tax accountant. She will be part of the company's growing tax department and will be working with the tax team to continue to develop and improve our tax research and review processes.

Meredith Gruelle has joined as an accounts manager and HR professional.

CHAIR OF ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY NAMED: Dr. Todd Ritzman has been appointed chair of the department of Orthopedic Surgery at Akron Children's Hospital.

Ritzman, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Akron Children's since 2007, earned his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. His residency in orthopedic surgery was at the Cleveland Clinic and he also completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis at San Diego Children's Hospital.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Orthopedic Association.

Ritzman is also director of the Spine Program at Akron Children's Hospital and has an interest in spinal deformity research, education and innovation.
