Area auto sales continue upward trend in July

WARREN -- Sales of new and used vehicles rose in July compared to the same month last year.

There were 5,016 new and used cars and trucks sold last month in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, according to data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association.

That compares to 4,379 sold in the tri-county area in July 2016.

Year-to-date, there were 35,114 new and used vehicle sales as of July 31, up from 30,923 for the same period last year.

Last month, there were 2,910 new vehicles sold across the Mahoning Valley compared to 2,519 in July 2016.

Year-to-date sales of new vehicles, as of July 31, at 20,163 units, were also up, from 17,179 in the same period last year.

Last month, there were 2,029 used vehicles sold, up from 1,813 in July 2016. As of July 31, 14,300 used vehicles were sold versus 13,181 for the prior year's first seven months.

In Trumbull County, Sims Buick-GMC of Warren sold the most vehicles with 178 new cars and trucks; followed by Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren with 144; and Greenwood's Hubbard Chevrolet in Hubbard with 130.
