Patrol investigating two-vehicle accident in Cortland

CORTLAND — The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Cortland police were called Tuesday morning to a two-vehicle head-on crash in the city that sent two people to the hospital.

The Trumbull County 911 center received a call after 10 a.m. about two vehicles involved in a crash on state Route 305 at Deer Creek Trail.

First responders were called to the crash where the driver of one of the vehicles was reported lying on the ground.

Police report one person driving a Volkswagen SUV was passing traffic on Route 305 when the driver swerved off the road to avoid an oncoming Hyundai SUV ä which also swerved off the road to avoid that vehicle.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital. Names and conditions of the drivers were not available.

Reports indicate both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

A section of Route 305 was shut down for a time following the accident, reports state.
