Firestone concert series starts Sunday The Idabelle Firestone Fall Concert Series starts at 3 p.m. Sunday with Oak Street String Band, the Keller Family Singers and Sassa Brass. It is the first of five September concerts. Other performances include Firestone Symphony Orchestra on Sept. 7; the Keystone State Gospel Quartet on Sept 14; and Ballet Western Reserve on Sept. 21. Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader Series will feature two Ohio poets. Mary Quade of Madison is the author of “Guide to Native Beasts” (Cleveland State University Poetry Center) and “Local Extinctions” (Gold Wake) and the winner of the 2022 the Journal Non / Fiction Prize. McDonough displays 4 artists for fall

Four exhibitions open Tuesday at Youngtown State University’s McDonough Museum of Art. The fall slate includes “Arron Foster: In_A_Sense,” “Aislinn Janek': Landscape as a Form of Knowledge,” “Michael Boyd Roman: Negus Weighting on a Miracle” and “Justin Sorensen: June 13th.” Foster is an assistant professor of art at Kent State University at Stark and has degrees from East Carolina University and the University of Georgia. Sips & Scripts serves up new works

Kent State University at Trumbull will give early exposure to eight new plays with its 2025-26 Sips & Scripts series. The season will open Wednesday with “The Life of Lily,” directed by Jessica Brumfield, who is theater coordinator with Kenzie James at Kent-Trumbull this school year with Eric Kildow on sabbatical. It tells the story of a father-daughter relationship, starting with Lily’s birth. Each scene touches on a year in Lily’s life from ages 4 to 24. The work of guest artist Ron Copeland is on display at Youngstown State University’s Judith Rae Solomon Gallery. Copeland, originally from Canton and now lives in Cleveland, draws on his Rust Belt upbringing in his art. In “Fragmented Narrative,” he explores how neighborhoods tell stories through their layered visual language.
