Kenny G coming to Packard
Kenny G returns to Packard Music Hall on Nov. 14.
The alto saxophone player is best known for the Grammy-winning hit "Songbird" from the album "Breathless," which is the best-selling instrumental album of all time. He has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, and his songs have been streamed more than 1.5 billion times.
His career of more than 50 years started as a member of Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra when he was a teenager. He also has recorded with such vocalists as Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, Whitney Houston and Natalie Cole.
He's played several shows in the Mahoning Valley over the years, most recently at Packard Music Hall in 2019 and 2021.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Packard box office and through Ticketmaster. An online-only presale runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday with the password: PACKARD.
Monster trucks returning to Covelli Centre
The Toughest Monster Truck Tour will make its annual appearance at the Covelli Centre on Jan. 29 and 30, 2027.
Six monster trucks will compete on an all-dirt track in the wheelie, racing and freestyle competitions including: winter 2026 tour champion Dozer, 2024 and 2025 tour champion Dirt Crew, the building block project Blockhead and the gladiator-themed truck Maximus.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covelli Centre box office and through Ticketmaster. A $10 discount and free pit passes will be available with the promo code TMTT27 today through Thursday online.
The same discount will be available Friday through Aug. 16 with no promo code needed. Pit passes will be $15 each after Aug. 16.
YSU grad leads Dorsey orchestra at Stambaugh
The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra will play Stambaugh Auditorium in December with a Youngstown State University graduate as its music director.
Jeff Bush, an Apollo, Pa., native who earned his bachelor of music degree at YSU, has led the orchestra since 2024. He first played the orchestra in 2000 when it was directed by bandleader Buddy Morrow.
Bush has taught at YSU and worked with such acts as Harry Connick Jr., Count Basie Orchestra, Frankie Valli, The Temptations and The Four Tops.
According to Stambaugh Chief Business Officer Dani Dier, "Having Jeff Bush return to Youngstown to lead one of America's most iconic orchestras makes this performance especially exciting for our community. His connection to Youngstown State University and his remarkable career are something our audiences can take great pride in, and we are thrilled to welcome both Jeff and this legendary orchestra to Stambaugh."
The group carries on the legacy of one of the most celebrated orchestras of the swing era and performs such classics as "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You," "Marie," "Opus One" and "I'll Never Smile Again."
