Library hosts author Robin Yocum
The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will present "A Writer's Life: An Evening with Robin Yocum" at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Yocum is known for his novels set in the Ohio River Valley.
The son of a West Virginia steelworker, Yocum will discuss his blue-collar roots and how his writing developed in the "grit and the grind" of the Ohio Valley.
The program is free, but advance registration is required at www.libraryvisit.org. Attendees will have a chance to win a copy of his latest book, "The Last Hitman," and a meet-and-greet and book signing will follow the program. For more information, call 330-744-8636.
Historical society seeking public input
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will have a public forum Wednesday at the main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave.
The general public is invited to attend and engage in the process of deciding future programming and exhibit goals as MVHS continues planning for Arms Family Museum and Tyler History Center. Refreshments will be provided.
The event led by MVHS education and exhibit consultant Ellen Leerburger runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
