McGuffey series presents handbell program

Handbell performer and historian Patty Claudio will be the next speaker for the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s Memories of a Lifetime series.

Claudio will cover the history of handbells, which once were integral components of both secular and religious music. Handbells were popular in vaudeville and Chautauqua societies and enjoyed a resurgence post-World War II.

It starts at 10 a.m. June 20 at Denny’s meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for nonmembers. Call 330-726-8277 for reservations.
