Soul Jam concert is rescheduled

The Soul Jam concert originally scheduled for June 14 at Powers Auditorium has been postponed.

The show featuring Russell Thompkins Jr. & the New Stylistics, The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston, Mr. R&B The Mark Williams and Harold Melvin’s Bluenotes has been moved to Saturday, Dec. 12.

All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. Patrons now unable to attend have 30 days to request a refund through their original point of purchase. Tickets are available at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office and through Ticketmaster.

Library hosting Civil War program

A program on “Trumbull County and the Civil War” is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library Brookfield Branch, 7032 Grove St.

The program will include information about a Civil War cavalry training camp in Warren, the Opdykes Tigers (the 125th Ohio Volunteer Infantry regiment) and local accounts of the war.

Admission is free, and it is presented in partnership with the Trumbull County Historical Society.

LOOP Youngstown dedicates building

LOOP Youngstown Arts + Culture Center will dedicate its new building at 805 Mahoning Ave. with an event Sunday.

The ceremony is scheduled at 2 p.m. and will include remarks by several speakers on the building’s history and LOOP’s mission. Doors open at 1 p.m. so attendees can tour the building and meet members of LOOP’s board and advisory council.

Singers sought for America250 concert

Auditions are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. June 22 and 23 for adult singers for an America250 celebration concert by the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and ACTS in Sharon, Pa.

The concert will feature solo numbers and several choral selections, and the singers who are selected will rehearse with Allan Mosher starting in mid-August for the Oct. 10 performance at Passavant Center in Greenville, Pa.

Those auditioning should prepare a song from the Great American Songbook on Broadway’s golden age. An accompanist will be provided. Go to www.actspac.org to register and complete an audition form.
