The New Music Guild will have a memorial concert for Gwyneth Rollin on Sunday.

Rollin, who died April 2 at age 82, was a violinist, pianist and composer who taught music theory at Youngstown State University for 35 years. She earned her doctorate from Indiana University.

Gwyneth Rollin and her husband, Robert Rollin, were coordinators of the guild, which focuses on performance of works by living composers and sponsors visits by guest composers and performers.

Sunday’s concert will open with performances in her memory including Robert Rollin’s Lyric Counterpoint on a Theme by Warshawsky and Gwyneth Rollin’s recently recorded Impressions for Violin and Piano.

Frequent guest artists Brendan Considine, violin, and Karen Considine, piano and violin, will play pieces by Respighi, Bartok, Stravinsky and Richard Zacharias as well as several Rollin works. A violist and cellist will be added to present works for string quartet.

The concert starts at 3:30 p.m. in the lower basement hall of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown.

Admission is free, and refreshments will be served in memory of Gwyneth Rollin and in honor of the Considines.

Starting at $3.23/week.
