Packard Museum planning to host Mardi Gras bash on Tuesday
Mardi Gras at the Museum runs 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
The event will feature live music by the Packard Dixieland Band, directed by Daniel Carioti. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

MVHS program explores the Mahoning Valley as a cultural hub
Mahoning Valley Historical Society educator Dante Bernard will look at the evolution of the Mahoning Valley as a cultural hub for a Bites and Bits of History program.
Going back to the 19th century, Bernard will talk about local musicians who made it big and international stars who played some of their first gigs on local stages.
This year's programs are part of Ohio's official semiquincentennial initiative, America250-Ohio, highlighting the contributions of Ohio and its communities to the story of the United States.
The program starts at noon Feb. 19 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown.
Admission is free, and attendees are invited to bring their lunch to enjoy during the program.

'Deer Hunter' screening, reception planned at YSU's business college
Tickets are available for a free screening of the Oscar-winning film "The Deer Hunter" as part of Ohio Goes to the Movies, a statewide program recognizing Ohio's links to the film industry as part of the America250-Ohio Celebration.
The movie, which was filmed partly in Struthers, will be shown at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 at Youngstown State University's Williamson College of Business Administration Auditorium. The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry & Labor, 151 W. Wood St., will have a pre-screening reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

McGuffey Historical Society program looks at local brewing history
Mahoning Valley breweries will be the topic of the next William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society Memories of a Lifetime program.
Author and historian Tom Welsh will discuss Renner Beer and the other local breweries that existed in the Mahoning Valley decades ago as well as the resurgence in local breweries in recent years. Welsh is the author of several books, including “Strouss’: Youngstown’s Dependable Store,” “Classic Restaurants of Youngstown” and a biography of William M. Cafaro.
The program starts at 10 a.m. Feb. 21 at Denny's meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for non-members Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
