Barnes & Noble hosts author book-signing event on Saturday

A multi-author book signing event runs from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 381 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman.

Participants will include Samantha Jo, an award-winning author of dark fantasy and alt-Appalachian fantasy; Kara M. Zone, a romantasy and dark fantasy author; Ciara Hartford, a romantasy and dark fantasy author; and ZL Johnson, a horror author who just released a debut novel.

The first 25 purchasers of indie books will receive a swag bag with merchandise from all four authors.

Brookfield library offers ukulele workshop at public library branch

A “You Can Play Ukulele!” free workshop starts this Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library Brookfield Branch, 7032 Grove St.

The Uke Kool Lady, Paulette Darko, will teach the basics of playing the ukulele. Instruments will be available to use during the program or participants can bring their own.

It will meet at 11 a.m. Saturdays through Nov. 22. Children must be accompanied by an adult. To register go to www.wtcpl.org/events or call 330-448-8134.

McGuffey Historical Society plans Pretty Boy Floyd program

Pretty Boy Floyd’s connection to East Liverpool will be the topic of the next Memories of a Lifetime program, presented by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society.

Retired attorney Tim Brooks will talk about the famous outlaw, who was arrested on an East Liverpool farm in 1934. Brooks served as president of the East Liverpool Historical Society for 40 years and has published articles on historical topics.

The program starts at 10 a.m. Nov. 15 at Denny’s meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty.

Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for non-members.
