13th Street Theatre will stage the musical "Guys and Dolls" at Ashtabula Arts Center.
Gambler Nathan Detroit is trying to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck. Meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer Adelaide laments that they've been engaged for 14 years. Nathan's friend and fellow gambler Sky Masterson chases after straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown in his own romantic entanglement.
The Frank Loesser / Abe Burrows / Jo Swerling musical ran for three years on Broadway in its initial run and won the Tony Award for best musical. A 1992 revival starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick ran nearly as long and won the Tony for best revival of a musical.
The 13th Street Theatre production is directed by Mary Ann Kline with Ashley Nelling as music director.
"Guys and Dolls" will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through Oct. 26 at the center, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula.
