Church fundraiser to aid dining hall
The Food Truck Rockin' Rally returns to St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, on Saturday.
Doug Thomas and the Full Moon Allstars will perform, and Vernon's food tuck will be on site. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
The event runs from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $10, and all proceeds will support the St. Vincent DePaul Dining Hall.
Penguin City hosts Oktoberfest
Penguin City Brewing Company, 460 E. Federal St., Youngstown, will have its 4th Oktoberfest on Saturday.
Polka music will be provided by Rex Taneri from 2 to 5 p.m. and The Zolkas from 7 to 10 p.m. Stein hoisting competitions will take place at 3 and 8 p.m. with prizes for the winners. Penguin City's Oktober Festbier and Renner Old Bavaria will be available along with a limited edition 2025 Penguin City Oktoberfest glass.
Festivities run from noon to 11 p.m.
Student films to be shown at DeYor
The 12th Friends4Friends Film Festival starts at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Ford Family Recital Hall, DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown.
It features original short films created by middle school and high school students from Austintown Middle School, Chaney Middle School, Mahoning County Juvenile Court and Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown, Northeast Ohio Impact Academy, South Range Middle School and High School and West Branch Middle School.
The films highlight real challenges young people face today, including cyberbullying, dating violence, mental health issues and more. Each project gives students the opportunity to stand up, speak out and inspire change among their peers. Admission is free.
WaterFire Sharon concludes
"Harvest Moon" is the theme of the second and final WaterFire Sharon event of 2025.
The centerpiece of the downtown Sharon, Pa., event is the more than 50 braziers that are anchored in the Shenango River, filled with cedar and pine and then set ablaze at nightfall with a soundtrack provided by a mix of prerecorded music and live music performed from boats on the river.
Before the lighting of the braziers at 9 p.m., there will be an artisan marketplace, a car show and a children's fun zone from 3 to 7 p.m. and a food court from 2 to 11 p.m. The entertainment lineup includes Steve Vuich, Pipe Dreams, Nicks in Time, Hair Supply, TNT Starlettes Fire Twirlers and Ally Grande. Admission is free.
