13th Street Theatre presents the Mel Brooks musical "Young Frankenstein" for a three-weekend run at Ashtabula Arts Center.
Based on the 1974 film of the same name, the musical follows Fredrick Frankenstein (Max Seymour), who inherits his infamous grandfather's estate in Transylvania. With the help of his hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (Chris Nappi), and his leggy lab assistant, Inga (Nina Nichols), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestor, bringing the dead to life and dodging the pitchforks of the locals.
The musical, which features music and lyrics by Brooks and a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, is directed by Christy Seymour with music direction by Debra Fleming.
"Young Frankenstein" will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through Oct. 27 at AAC, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula. Tickets are $19 for adults, $17 for students, senior citizens and military and $15 for children ages 2 to 12 in advance online at ashtabulaartscenter.org or by calling 440-964-3396.
