1 min read

Professor Samantha Baskind will present "Up, Up, and Oy Vey!: Jews, Comics, and the Graphic Novel" on Sunday at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, as part of its J. Newman Levy Speaker Series.

Baskind will discuss the enormous Jewish contribution to comics and the graphic novel. Beginning in the 1930s, Jews built the comic book industry from the ground up, and the influence of Jewish writers, artists, and editors continues to be felt to this day.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes brunch. Admission is free, but advance registration is required by today at jccyoungstown.org/newmanlevyseries.

Starting at /week.
