Performers ranging from 55 to 93 years old will be featured at the Robins Theatre for the Senior Showcase Talent Show.
Jennifer Dagati said the group was started a year ago to provide opportunities for older performers to display their abilities.
"I work with seniors, doing fitness classes at Shepherd of the Valley, and I felt seniors have a lot of talent that, I don't want to call hidden, but they haven't been out there," she said. "Also as a senior myself, I see my friends and how talented they are, and this is a great way to put them on stage and build a great community on stage."
The performers range from acts who have professional experience to those stepping on stage for the first time. The program will feature vocalists, musicians, dance numbers, magicians, comedy and sketches.
"The people selected have been rehearsing for about six months," Dagati said.
Performers on Saturday will include Deb'orah Benton, Ava Bloom, Ronile Bonner, Carol Bovee, Tim Brown, Beverly Burton, Eugene Carper, Jackie Chachleo, Rozz Chapman, Gwendolyn Cheatham, Beth Chepke, Lupe Cohen, Barb Croyts, Jen Dagati, Joe Dagati, Linda Daughterty, Tony Defor, Kathleen Dew, Richelle Drum, Jeannette Ellashek, Cheryl Falatic, Rosemary Finley, Roxanne Funk, Eun Mi Gross, Beverly Hauser, Deborah Jacob, Rubylee Jordan, Shari Lallanilla, Debbie Lavelle, Donna Loomis, Sandi Love, Pat Lumpkin, Val McCourt, Sherry McFall Totten, Debbie Mechling, Judy Miles, Sandra Miles, Gary Morton, Jan O'Donnell, Linda Petrilla, Kim Postlethwait, Lynne Radcliffe, Joey Radza, Roe Ragozine, Janice Ruggiero, Mary Ann Ruth, Jan Sala, Carole Stanford, Charlotte Sanford, Norma Sauceman, Cathay Scarlett, Frank Shiflet, Kathy Shiflet, Jeannie Trask, Chris Trautman, Doreen Walker, Peggy Weller, Leslie Wilkinson, Mike Wilson and Jane Womer.
Plans right now are to do a large talent showcase every year and take smaller groups of performers to nursing homes and other locations to entertain.
The group already has accomplished one of its goals -- getting to perform on the Robins Theatre stage.
"We feel very blessed that (Sunrise Entertainment founder) Ken Haidaris asked to come to the Robins Theatre," Dagati said. "We planned on having it at Warren SCOPE, but the Robins is where I always wanted to have it. Give us a couple years and build up to it. But lo and beyond, here we are already."
Dagati said she also hopes Saturday's performance will attract more senior citizens to the group. Audition forms are available on its website,
seniorshowcaseohio.com.
"If you don't want to be a (main) performer on stage, we need people as backup singers, backup dancers, to do props and stage management. There are a multitude of things people can do if they don't want to be on stage in the spotlight and just want to be a part of a really great group."
