Waterfire sails into finale
"Come Sail Away With Us" is the theme for Saturday's Waterfire Sharon, the final one of 2023 in downtown Sharon, Pa.
The food court and artists market starts at 2 p.m. The children area opens at 3 p.m. and will feature demonstrations by the Sharon School District's Tiger Tech Robotics Team and a Touch a Truck area. Performers will include The Hern Brothers Band from 4 to 7 p.m. and Grant Street Exit from 8 to 10 p.m. The lighting of the braziers begins at 7:30 p.m. with river entertainment featuring vocalists Dan Hogan and Brianna Bojewski and fire performer Jimmy Pyro.

Warren mayor speaks to press club
Warren Mayor Doug Franklin will discuss development in and near this city's downtown during an Oct. 3 Youngstown Press Club breakfast meeting.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Wean Foundation, 147 W. Market St., Warren. The city's downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods are slated for a major revitalization in the coming months; and Franklin will discuss current and future projects connected to this effort. Franklin has been Warren's mayor for 12 years and is unopposed for a fourth four-year term in the Nov. 7 general election.
Tickets are $15 for press club members and $20 for nonmembers and are available online at youngstown pressclub.com. Reservations are due by Sept. 27.
'Women at Work' opens at museum
"Women at Work: Change and Continuity, 1940s – 2010s" opens today at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 W. Wood St., Youngstown.
The exhibition delves into conditions in the workplace and how they have changed over time, asking the question: "What has improved and what still needs revision to make workers, both men and women, happier employees?"
It runs through Nov. 10, and a closing reception is planned at 6 p.m. that day featuring a discussion with Sherry Linkon, director of the writing program at Georgetown University and former co-director of the Center for Working-Class Studies at Youngstown State University from 1997 to 2012.
Augustine trio performs for Butler
The Joe Augustine Trio will play a concert at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown.
Augustine, who lives in Howland, is a Steinway artist who has produced 37 CDs and has performed nationally and abroad as a solo pianist as well as performing with jazz ensembles and orchestras. According to Butler Executive Director Louis A. Zona, "Joe Augustine is a master musician whose interpretation of the great American songbook knows no peers. In my opinion it is magic that comes from his piano."
