JCC exhibition displays Snowe’s artwork

YOUNGSTOWN – The work of artist L.P. Snowe II will be shown in an exhibition opening Monday at the Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation Art Gallery in the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown.

“Cats Infiltrate the Optic Nerve” includes 15 pencil and ink drawings.

Snowe is a Warren native and Warren G. Harding High School graduate who received an associate degree in law enforcement from Kent State University at Trumbull. He works in private security and as a warehouse worker, and he is shop steward for Teamsters Local 377.

His work has been shown in 27 juried art shows at such venues as the Erie Art Museum, Butler Institute of American Art, Cleveland Institute of Art and the Ohio State Fair. He’s earned several awards for his work.

Snowe’s work is influenced by the fantastic artwork featuring spacecraft, alien planets and futuristic architecture on the covers of 1960s and 1970s sci-fi paperbacks. He also loved the artwork of the cartoonist Sergio Aragones for Mad Magazine.

“Cats Infiltrate the Optic Nerve” will be on display through Aug. 1. A reception is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the gallery, 505 Gypsy Lane.

Starting at $3.23/week.
