Cartoonist speaking at Trumbull Town Hall

WARREN — Cartoonist Tom Toro will speak Wednesday as part of the Trumbull Town Hall lecture series.

This is one of two lectures from the 2019-20 season that was postponed and rescheduled multiple times due to COVID-19.

Since his first appearance in 2010, Toro has published more than 200 cartoons in The New Yorker. His work also has been seen in Playboy, the Paris Review, the New York Times, American Bystander and elsewhere.

His first children’s picture book, “How to Potty Train Your Porcupine,” was released in May 2020, and his collection of Trump cartoons, “Tiny Hands,” appeared in 2017. Toro has written short stories for the New Haven Review, Slush Pile and Litro (UK), as well as contributing a dozen essays to the New Yorker Cartoon Encyclopedia.

Toro graduated from Yale, where he received the Betts Prize for his literary work while also serving as captain of the national champion lightweight rowing team and cartoon editor for the Yale Herald. He will speak 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Single tickets for the lecture are $35 and are available through Ticketmaster and at the Packard box office the morning of the event.
