Melnick museum opens photo show

The photography exhibition “Extract & Augment” opens today at Youngstown State University’s Melnick Medical Museum.

The exhibition, created by YSU art student Ashley Vaughan of Austintown, explores the ingenuity of the mid-20th century that pushed the boundaries of medical knowledge, particularly the way people used prosthetics and other devices to augment their bodies.

An opening reception is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the museum, on the lower level of Cushwa Hall. Admission is free.
