Lit Youngstown, library offer short fiction contest

YOUNGSTOWN – Lit Youngstown and the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County are sponsoring a Short Short Fiction writing contest.

The event is inspired by a similar contest sponsored by National Public Radio in 2012 called 3-Minute Fiction for short stories that could be read in less than 3 minutes (600 words or less). There are categories for teens and adults, and it is open to residents of Trumbull and Mahoning counties in Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in western Pennsylvania. The winner and runner-up in each category will be invited to read at Lit Youngstown’s Fall Literary Festival in October.

The deadline for entries is Aug. 31, and entries will be accepted online at lityoungstown.org/2019/ 07/21/short-short-fiction-contest/
