Charles "Buzz" and Patricia Matheson of Cortland will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary April 14, 2023.
Buzz and the former Patricia Haddox were married April 14, 1958, in Maryland.
The couple met after Buzz's family moved to Warren from Topton, N.C., and Pat's family moved to Warren from the Grafton, W.Va., area.
Buzz served as a sergeant at the Howland Police Department before taking an early retirement to work full time in the business that Buzz and Pat started together, Howland Alarm Co. Inc. They worked in the company until 1987, when they retired and two of their children purchased the company.
The couple raised three children, Charlotte (Jeff) Daugherty of Canfield, Jesse (Barb) Matheson of Cortland and Cindy (Mitch) Matheson of Cortland. They also have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The couple enjoyed performing in a bluegrass band for nearly 60 years before retiring in 2020.
Buzz had his private pilot's license and flew hang gliders in his younger years. Pat always had a green thumb and loved planting flowers.
Family has always been the most important thing in their lives and they continue to enjoy time with them.
A private family celebration will be held at the end of April.
