Youngstown organization focuses on helping families
YOUNGSTOWN — A Youngstown-based organization known as Saving Grace Daily is looking to expand its services to help those in need.
Jackie Murphy, founder of Saving Grace Daily, was a single mother and faced challenges. She said God gave her a vision to help people in need.
“I find people need a little extra help whether with money or from different organizations. I see single mothers with children and want to be able to help them get what they need,” Murphy said.
The organization is based in Youngstown and started three years ago, but Murphy said she will reach out to help those in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Murphy said the organization is faith-based and works to help people get back on their feet.
“People today have a hard time paying bills and getting food and clothing for their children. There is nothing wrong with getting what you need from a second-hand store. We are just trying to give people a helping hand,” Murphy said.
She said she helps people from her home, but she is in the process of finding a building to serve the two counties.
She said she sees many single mothers and single fathers today struggling as they raise their children and need help to get their gas or electricity bills paid.
Murphy said various fundraising events such as dinners and trash and treasure sales help raise funds to assist families.
