3 agencies, 1 office to unite in January 2027
On Jan. 1, 2027, the three Catholic Charities agencies and the Diocesan Department of Catholic Charities will officially unify into one organization serving all six counties of the diocese, according to Catholic Charities Director Rachel Hrbolich.
“This unification is not about changing who we are: it’s about strengthening our services, our identity and our structure for the future. By bringing our teams, resources and expertise together under one corporation, we will reduce duplication, streamline operations and ensure that every dollar entrusted to us stretches further. Donors will see their support fueling a more coordinated, more efficient and more responsive Catholic Charities organization with an enhanced capacity to meet its mission of reducing the harmful effects of poverty in our communities,” Hrbolich stated in a news release.
The merger will bring together Catholic Charities of Portage and Stark Counties, Catholic Charities Regional Agency, which serves Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, and Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County.
“Unification allows us to speak with one clear voice across the diocese and deepens our partnerships with the parishes and communities we serve. But, most importantly, those who rely on Catholic Charities for assistance can expect the same — if not better — level of quality, compassionate, professional care that we have been known to provide for decades,” Hrbolich said.
“This is a moment of growth, hope, and renewed commitment for Catholic Charities. As we move toward January 2027, we invite you to walk together with us in mission. Your continued support ensures that Catholic Charities remains a beacon of mercy, dignity, and love for generations to come.”
