Oral health topic of YSU program April 8
Youngstown State University’s Wellness for Life Speaker Series will present “More than Teeth: The Hidden Power of Oral Health” 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. April 8 at the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive.
Speaking at this free community lunch-and-learn session will be Ruth Palich, a faculty member in YSU’s dental hygiene program. She will lead a discussion focused on maintaining oral health as we age.
Palich will discuss the critical role oral health plays in overall well-being, as well as how it is often overlooked. She will identify practical strategies to support healthy teeth and gums throughout the aging process, highlight common medications that can impact oral health and offer guidance on how to communicate effectively with dentists and other health care providers.
Attendees will gain a better understanding of the strong connection between oral health and overall health, leaving with knowledge and tools to advocate for themselves and support lifelong wellness.
The Wellness for Life Speaker Series promotes health education, lifelong learning and personal well-being through expert-led programs offered throughout the community. Sessions are designed to be accessible, informative and engaging for individuals across all stages of life.
Lunch will be provided. To register, RSVP on the “More than Teeth” registration page.
