FEAST DAY: The congregation of St. James Episcopal Church will return to its historic building in Boardman Park at 10 a.m. on Sunday to celebrate the feast day of their patron, St. James, the first of the apostles to achieve martyrdom. The liturgy of Morning Prayer will be followed by a picnic in the Ex-Serviceman's Pavilion.
The first St. James Episcopal Church building was de-consecrated and relocated to Boardman Park and renamed St. James Meeting House. In 1979, it was entered in the National Register of Historic Places by the Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, and is the only building or site in Boardman Township to be so designated.
In 1972, a new church building was completed at 7640 Glenwood Ave. in Boardman. Worship is at 10 a.m. Sundays. The typical liturgy is that of Holy Eucharist. Sunday school for children takes place during the liturgy.

OLDEST MEMBER: Jerusalem Baptist Church 2003 Wilson Ave, Youngstown, will honor and remember its oldest member, 100-year-old William "Dollar Bill" Miller. The homegoing event will be at 11 a.m. today at the church.
SERBIAN DAY PICNIC: The 90th annual Serbian Day picnic will be noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 39 Laird Ave., Youngstown. Live music with Orkestar Zabava of Pittsburgh, Pa. will be 1 to 5 p.m. in the pavilion. Traditional foods will be available. Admission is free.
ONENESS BLESSING: The Unity Spiritual Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Liberty, will offer a Oneness Blessing at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The program will be given by Paul Christian, who also will be the speaker at the Sunday service. The blessing is a hands-on benediction that brings about changes in the energy of the brain. The program is open to the public.
FOOD FEST: St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown will host its fourth annual drive-thru international food festival from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in the parking lot between the parish hall and the Williamson College of Business at Youngstown State University.
Four feasts will be available for $15 each, which includes dinner, dessert and pop or water: Eastern European, Italian, Mexican and Puerto Rican. Orders will be taken after weekend Masses today (4 p.m.) and Sunday (10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.), and Aug. 5 (4 p.m.) and Aug. 6 (10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.) Orders also will be taken by phone on Aug. 8 and 9 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days by calling or texting committee member Marly Reichert at 330-507-6001 or calling committee member Jack Reichert at 330-755-8128.
Proceeds will benefit the church's educational fund.
FOOD COLLECTION: St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown will begin collecting nonperishable food items to support the needs of its parish community and those at St. Edward Parish, also in Youngstown, starting Aug. 6. Donation bins will be located at the back and front entrances of the church on the first Sunday of each month.
Suggested items are macaroni and cheese, canned soup, canned meat or fish, canned vegetables or fruit, pasta and sauce, small jars of peanut butter and jelly, crackers and granola bars. Anyone wanting to make a cash donation or donate a gift card to local grocery stores can place their donation in an envelope marked "food donation" and put in the collection basket.
RELEASED TIME: School Ministries of Trumbull County is expanding its programs and needs help throughout the county.
"Released Time" is offered to students as an "off campus" one period per week Bible education class. The organization needs individuals and churches to help teach, transport students when needed and spread the word to students and to other schools.
Current needs are in Champion and Bristol with middle school students. The group's objective is to interpret scripture correctly for students. The program must be off campus, parental permission needs to be signed and there can be no cost to the school .

CEMETERY SERVICES: The Diocese of Youngstown will offer the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Prayer Service in the chapel of four cemeteries at 3 p.m. each Friday. The first Friday of the month will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, the second Friday will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, third Friday will be at All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta and the fourth Friday at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon.
LOVE CHARITY ALMS: Love Charity Alms will host the annual Martha J. Hill Scholarship dinner at Enzo's Banquet Center, 2918 Elm Road, Warren, on Aug. 12. Speaker is the Rev. BACK TO SCHOOL: Simon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman, will host a Back to School Family Day at 6 p.m. Aug. 5. There will be free school supplies, food and a movie. The event is free.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, New Waterford, is sponsoring the 15th annual August Overflow, a one-day community outreach event with distribution of school supplies, clothing and food. The event will be noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 5. August Overflow is funded through the church, businesses and personal sponsors.
LECTURE SET: The 10th annual Nostra Aetate Lecture with Michal Bar-Asher Siegal will be at 2 and 7 p,m. Tuesday at Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center, 2067 Evergreen Road. Cost is a free-will offering. The first lecture at 2 p.m. is "The Rabbi who was a Monk" on Christians Monacsticism and the Babylonian Talmud. The second lecture at 7 p.m. is "When a Heretic and a Rabbi Meet" on Jewish-Christian Dialogue over scripture.
