The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra is accepting applications for its Frank R. Bodor Strings of Joy program.
The program provides free violin or cello lessons for students in grade 3 to 7. Participating students also will be loaned an instrument to use for their studies.
Lessons taught by violinist Natalie Machala will take place on Sunday afternoons from Oct. 18 to May 30, 2027, at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. NE, Warren.
The program was started to provide access to high-quality music education to Mahoning Valley students who might not have access otherwise. It is funded through private donors and support from the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce.
It is named for Bodor, an attorney, arts advocate and longtime chair of the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra's board.
