OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Hundreds of police in riot gear swept through Canada's capital today, retaking control of the streets around the Parliament buildings and appearing to end the siege of Ottawa after three weeks of protests. Protesters, angry over the country's COVID-19 restrictions and with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, retreated from the largest police operation in the country's history, with police arresting or driving out demonstrators and towing away their trucks. COVID-19 rates hit lowest point since August

Ohio again saw a significant drop in COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents with numbers not seen this low since mid-August. It was the fourth consecutive week of declines after 11 straight weeks of increases. The state saw a 46.8 percent reduction in cases per 100,000 residents from last week and a 371 percent decline from two weeks ago. Cases in Ohio have declined 842 percent since the record high four weeks ago. Nursing home, prison cases near zero

The number of cases of COVID-19 appear to have dropped to nearly zero at nursing homes, long-term care facilities and prisons across the Mahoning Valley. The one Youngstown nursing home that had a high number of cases last week (13 patient cases and one staff case) now has just two patient cases. Data reported by the Ohio Department of Health for many other facilities showing low numbers of cases appear not to have been updated since last week — but are assumed still to be low. Niles district monitors guidance on masks

NILES — With COVID-19 numbers decreasing in recent weeks and spring sports starting next month, Niles school officials said they will see what state and local health officials will recommend on masks.
