Mon. 10:34 a.m.: Crash outside Warren hospital causes power outage

WARREN -- A two-vehicle accident snapped three utility poles this morning, which knocked out power for about 170 customers near downtown Warren, according to an Ohio Edison map.

The accident was reported at about 5:30 a.m. at the entrance of Trumbull Regional Medical Center off Laird Avenue, according to the 911 report. Laird Avenue remained closed south of Market Street this morning.

An electric wire came down and a driver in one of the vehicles was trapped inside.

The cause of the accident and condition reports on the victims was not available this morning.

Ohio Edison first said that all power should be restored by 9 a.m. but now say it will be about 2 p.m.
