DAYTON -- Loudon Love had a career-high 26 points as Wright State easily beat Youngstown State 82-54 on Saturday.
Ursuline High School graduate and Raiders senior guard Mark Hughes had 14 points for Wright State (18-11, 12-4 Horizon League), which won its sixth consecutive game. Cole Gentry added 12 points. Malachi Smith had seven rebounds and seven assists for the hosts.
Michael Akuchie had 12 points for the Penguins (12-18, 8-9) on a career-high four 3-pointers.
The Raiders, who shot 18-of-31 in the first half and had eight 3-pointers, swept the season series from YSU.
Wright State defeated the Penguins 80-74 on Jan. 17 in Youngstown.
YSU had 17 turnovers, which led to 20 Raiders points.
Wright State travels to Green Bay on Thursday, while YSU finishes out the regular season against Cleveland State next Saturday at home.
CLEVELAND STATE 83, NORTHERN KENTUCKY 77: HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- Jaalam Hill had his first career double-double to help last-place Cleveland State beat Northern Kentucky Saturday night to knock the Norse out of first in the Horizon League and snap their 20-game home win streak.
NKU (21-8, 11-5) is now a game behind Wright State, which beat Youngstown State 82-54 earlier Saturday, in the conference standings.
Hill finished with a career-high 26 points, on 12-of-16 shooting, and tied his career best with 12 rebounds. Tyree Appleby and Rashad Williams scored 15 points apiece for Cleveland State (9-21, 4-13), which snapped a 12-game road losing streak.
Drew McDonald had 22 points for the Norse, moving into second on the program's career scoring list with 1,998 -- nine shy of the mark set by Craig Sanders (1998-2002). Jalen Tate scored 19 points and Dantez Walton added 12 points and nine rebounds.
The Vikings evened the season series against the Norse with the win. Northern Kentucky defeated Cleveland State 91-76 on Jan. 17. Cleveland State finishes out the regular season against Youngstown State on the road next Saturday. Northern Kentucky matches up against Milwaukee on the road on Thursday.
OAKLAND 95, DETROIT 75: OAKLAND, Mich. -- Xavier Hill-Mais scored 29 points as Oakland rolled past Detroit.
Braden Norris added 23 points for the Golden Grizzlies.
Hill-Mais made 13 of 17 shots. He added seven rebounds and three blocks. Norris also had 10 assists for the Golden Grizzlies.
Jaevin Cumberland had 14 points for Oakland (13-16, 9-7 Horizon League). Brad Brechting added 11 points, 12 rebounds and three assists.
The 95 points were a season best for Oakland.
Antoine Davis had 20 points and six assists for Detroit Mercy (10-18, 7-9). He was 6 for 19 from the floor, including 3 of 10 on 3-pointers. Josh McFolley added 14 points and Harrison Curry had 13 points for the Titans.
The Golden Grizzlies improved to 2-0 against the Titans this season. Oakland defeated Detroit 79-73 on Jan. 19.
Oakland matches up against Illinois-Chicago at home on Thursday. Detroit plays IUPUI at home on Thursday.
AKRON 70, MIAMI (Ohio) 58: AKRON -- Tyler Cheese had 27 points and Daniel Utomi added 19 as Akron charged out to an early lead to take a victory over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday to halt a three-game losing skid.
Cheese nailed all three attempts from beyond the arc and was 10 of 16 from the floor. Utomi was 5 of 8 from long range. Loren Cristian Jackson added 11 points and Jimond Ivey dished out seven assists while pulling down seven rebounds for Akron (15-12 7-7 Mid-American Conference).
Abdoulaye Harouna had 13 points and Darrian Ringo 12 for Miami (14-13, 6-8).
The Zips had a 13-2 run midway in the second half to go up 57-42 with 7:59 remaining in the game and Akron coasted to the win.
