Poor shooting leads to men’s loss at Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Youngstown State shot 31.7 percent from the floor and Milwaukee went on a late run as the Panthers rolled to a 66-55 win Thursday at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

Freshman Garrett Covington led the Penguins (6-16, 4-5 Horizon League) with 15 points and made three 3-pointers, while Naz Bohannon added 13 points.

Leading Milwaukee (11-12, 4-6), which shot 55.6 percent from the floor, was Bryce Nze and Jeremiah Barnes with 17 points each.

YSU is tied with IUPUI for fifth place in the Horizon League.

Milwaukee regained a six-point advantage before the Penguins cut the deficit to one, 49-48, with 5:38 remaining after a Bohannon layup.

The Panthers went on a 14-0 run over the next 4:25.

Saturday, YSU travels to Green Bay, starting at 1 p.m.
