Howland High School named Steve Boyle its new football coach Monday.
Boyle brings not only an extensive college resume with him to Howland, but also high school coaching experience, as he served as an assistant with Howland for two seasons.
Boyle, a Thiel College graduate, had numerous coaching roles for Thiel College and the University of Maine before returning to Howland.
The Howland Board of Education approved a one-year limited contract to Boyle.
The 2003 Howland graduate was an assistant coach on the staff in 2015 and 2017.
Boyle replaces Dominic Menendez, who was the team's coach for the past five seasons.
"We are excited to have Steve Boyle as our new football coach at Howland High School," said Howland Activities Director Andrea Ferenac in a news release. "During our search, it was clear coach Boyle was the right fit for the job. Besides his familiarity with the program and community, he has great passion for the game and a strong work ethic. Our goal was to get someone who could not only successfully lead the football program, but understand the importance of building relationships with our student-athletes, parents, lower level football programs, other athletic programs, faculty, and most importantly the community.
"We have great confidence in coach Boyle's commitment to academic excellence, competitive athletic achievement, and consistent integrity in the operation of all phases of our football program."
