Nicholas Liste 1991-2019

NORTH LIMA — Nicholas Liste, 28, of North Lima, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019.

He was born Feb. 21, 1991, in Warren, the son of David and Diane Lovas Liste.

Nick was a 2009 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. He was the punter on the Red Dragon football team and also ran track and played soccer. He went on to attend Youngstown State University, where he was both kicker and punter on the Penguins football team. From 2009 to 2013, he made First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in education and in 2018 obtained a master’s degree in educational technology. After graduating, he received an invitation to the Detroit Lions rookie minicamps for a tryout.

He started his career as a substitute teacher for Howland High School and coached their JV Soccer team from 2014 to 2015. Then in 2015, he was hired by the Boardman school system as a physical education teacher at the junior high and high school. He was also the 7th grade boys basketball coach and middle school track coach.

Nick was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman. He played adult league soccer in Niles, kickball in Struthers, enjoyed sports, video games, yard work, running and excelled in all sports.

Nick was an amazing husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, teacher and coach. He was greatly loved by his wife, parents, brother, family, friends and students and will be missed beyond words by his parents of Niles; his wife, Alyssa L. Liste, whom he married July 14, 2018; a brother, David C. Liste of Niles; maternal grandfather, George Lovas of McDonald; his father-in law and mother-in-law, Ken and Sue Gwirtz of North Lima; his sisters-in-law, Katie (Kyle) Crouthamel, Breanna (Bill) Beaver and Tessa Gwirtz; nephew, Benji; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends and family may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, 457 Robbins Ave. in Niles. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Philip Rogers officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
