There were no injuries after a vehicle fire was reported in Niles on Friday afternoon.
According to Lt. James Fedor of the Niles Fire Department, the fire happened in the Mad For Chicken parking lot at 5851 Youngstown Warren Road.
The driver of a 2012 F-150 pickup truck noticed flames coming from beneath his dash as he traveled down U.S. Route 422. He was able to pull into the restaurant parking before the fire engulfed the vehicle.
A passerby helped the driver retrieve his belongings from the truck.
Niles firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to douse the flames, but the vehicle was a total loss, Fedor said.
The restaurant building sustained minor damage when part of the vehicle "popped," according to Fedor.
A plate glass window on the building was shattered and the outside sustained some fire damage.
There was no structural damage, Fedor said.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined.
