HOWLAND -- A vehicle caught on fire around 9:30 a.m. Friday morning in the Eastwood Mall parking lot near Gander Outdoors, 2390 Niles Cortland Road.
The engine of a 2009 Kia Optima was at first smoking and then on fire before the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and "popping," according to a Trumbull County 911 report.
The Howland Fire Department confirmed the unoccupied vehicle was removed from the scene after 5 to 10 minutes, and the fire, which was confined to the engine, was put out by the fire chief and two additional firefighters on scene.
No one was injured in the incident.
