HOWLAND -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post is investigating a two-vehicle crash, occurring 12:05 p.m. Sunday on state Route 46 at Mall Boulevard.
Reports indicate Michael L. Dechert, 58, of Youngstown, was northbound on Route 46 in a 2000 GMC Jimmy and Gerald A. Wright, 54, of Orwell, was southbound on Route 46 in a 2009 Ford F-350 truck. Reports indicate Dechert's vehicle was struck after turning it west toward Mall Boulevard into the path of the Wright vehicle.
Dechert received serious injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he is in critical condition, reports state, while Wright received minor injuries and was not transported.
Howland police, fire and EMS and Niles fire department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
