Southington schools earn honors

SOUTHINGTON –The Southington Local School District has received the “High Progress School of Honor” for 2018 by the Ohio Department of Education.

The ODE launched the State Superintendent’s Schools of Promise initiative in 2003, in response to the recommendations in the 2003 Report of the State Board of Education’s Closing Achievement Gaps Task Force — to build upon the successes of Ohio schools that are closing achievement gaps and generating high achievement for all students.

To help close achievement gaps, the ODE developed the Schools of Promise program to identify, recognize and highlight schools that are making substantial progress in ensuring high achievement for all students.

All public schools administering state tests were considered for the awards based on enrollment eligibility, gap closing grade, proficiency rates, graduation rate grades and progress grade.

Starting at $3.23/week.
