PRAYER WALK: Warren Women's Connection will hold a prayer walk at 9:30 a.m. today starting at the Women's Park off Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren. The group will walk along Mahoning Avenue to Courthouse Square. Prayers will be said for families and the community.

FESTIVAL AT CHURCH: St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road NE, Warren, will hold a St. John's Fest from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. The event will include a bake sale, live entertainment, church tours, ethnic foods and activities. There will be a Russian orchestra.

REVIVAL CONCERT: The Community Church of God in Christ, 310 Austin Ave., Warren, will hold a Revival Choir Concert at 6 p.m. today. The music department of the church will host the event. Special guests are Pastor Rodney Posey and Skyler Johnson, national recording artists, Host pastor is Auston Shaw III.

MEET AND GREET: Friendship Baptist Church, 1954 Brier St. SE, Warren, will hold a Women's Ministry Meet and Greet 10:30 a.m. today.

Guest speaker is Sister Phyllis Bowling of Second Missionary Baptist Church, Farrell, Pa. She is women's ministry president of the Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia Baptists District Association.

The theme is "Prayer is Our Weapon."

BABY SHOWER: Bazetta Christian Church will hold a baby shower at 10:30 a.m. Sunday between services for the Bella Women's Center. People can bring an unwrapped baby item and enjoy shower cake. The gifts will help with the basic needs of the church's new moms.

CHURCH CELEBRATION: Third Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 241 First St. SW, Warren, will be ending its 98th church anniversary celebration with an "Afternoon of Worship" at 3 p.m. Sunday. Various participants will speak. Host pastor is Robert Faulkner.

FAMILY DAY: Greater Apostolic Faith Church, 3571 Tod Ave. SW, Warren, will hold a Friends and Family Day at 11:30 a.m. Sunday with guest speaker, Evangelist Deborah Shealey.

OPEN HOUSE: The Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield, will hold an open house from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday. The event will include completion of the Motherhouse reconfiguration and renovations. In 2011, a major reconfiguration and renovation of the 55-year-old Motherhouse began. In the last seven years, more than $8 million in improvements have been made.

DIALOGUE SESSION: The Jewish-Christian Studies will meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way, Liberty. The topic is "How Do Hindus Handle non-belief?" with Dr. Sudhakar Rao of the Hindi Temple in Liberty. For information, call 330-759-1429.

AWAKEN OUR HEARTS: St. Patrick Church of Hubbard will present "Awaken Our Hearts" parish mission with Vince Ambrosetti, Oct. 14-17.

Ambrosetti, a former Catholic Artist of the Year, will lead the mission at St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St., Hubbard. The first Sunday is a family concert from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 14 Events include 7 p.m. Oct.15 "Coming into the Presence of God;" Oct. 16 "Resting in the Presence of God through Forgiveness, Healing and Peace,"and Oct. 17 "The Presence of God Alive Within Us from Table to World." Ambrosetti has also composed, recorded and, by invitation of the Vatican, performed for Pope John Paul II at St. Peter's Basilica.

BLESSING OF ANIMALS: Blessed Sacrament Parish, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, will hold blessing of the animals at 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at the outdoor gathering space.

THEOLOGICAL STUDY: The St. John Lutheran Church of Youngstown, 1429 Mahoning Ave. NW, will hold a ministries study program during October. Theme is "Most Important Issues of Faith and Life." The ecumenical study group meets three times per year during October, March and May from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m.

TEMPLE HOLDS EVENTS: Temple El Emeth will hold a service at 9:30 a.m. today followed by Rabbi's Sukkot luncheon at the temple. Hoshana Rabba services are at 8 a.m to 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Shimni Atzeret morning service at 9:30 a.m. and Yizkor at 11:15 a.m. Monday,

Simchat Torah, with music and dancing with Steven Greenman and Walt Mahovlich, will be at 6:15 p.m. Monday with Torah parade at 6:45 p.m.

FIRST FRIDAY CLUB: The First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will host Sister Dianne Bergant, professor of Biblical studies at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, who will speak from 11:30 a.m. to 1 pm. GOSPEL MUSICAL: Deliverance Temple Church, 1849 West Ave., Warren, will hold a gospel musical at 6 p.m. Oct. 6. The event will feature the Anointed Disciples of Columbus, the Spiritual Angels, Mighty Golden Wonders and E. Brian Street Gospel. A free-will offering will be accepted.

POLITICAL DIVIDE: Ohio Leaders United will present "Kingdoms In Conflict" Monday for a day of spiritual inspiration exploring a Kingdom perspective on the current political landscape. The event will be spearheaded by the Rev. Russell Moore, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Bishop Joey Johnson of The House of the Lord Church in Akron

There will be discussion with Rev. Moore and Bishop Johnson at noon at the Ohio Valley Teen Challenge, 1319 Florencedale Ave., Youngstown. At 7 p.m, both Moore and Johnson will serve as keynote speakers at Second Baptist Church at 1510 Main Ave SW in Warren, during a community worship service that is free.

MOVIE NIGHT: Newton Falls Church of the Nazarene at 520 N. Canal St., will present family movie night featuring "I Can Only Imagine" at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

TORAH CELEBRATION: Temple El Emeth will hold a Simchat Torah celebration Monday with Maariv at 6:15 p.m. and Torah Parade at 6:45 p.m. There will be treats for children during the Torah procession. The rabbi will rewind the Torah at the close of the service.

FOUNDATIONS: The Youngstown Diocese Office of Lay Ministry Formation is offering "Foundations in Ministry," a 20-session program to deepen the spirituality, theological knowledge and ministry skills of adults who desire to grow deeper in their faith and become more active disciples. FESTA EVENT: Blessed Sacrament Parish, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, will hold a "Celebrate Sicily" eighth annual festa from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 6 at Trumbull Country Club in Warren. This event celebrates the many heritages and cuisines of regions in Italy. There will be a raffle, music and a performance by former Miss Ohio Amanda Beagle.

CONFERENCE SET: A conference retreat "Prayer of Heart and Body" will be held from 7 p.m. Oct. 7 to noon Oct. 12 with Father Tom Ryan at Villa Maria Education & Spirituality Center in Pulaski, Pa. The focus will be on meditative prayer in the Christian tradition and the role of the body in prayer.

TICKET RAFFLE: St. Columba Cathedral will hold a ticket raffle in place of its annual quarter auction Oct. 13 in the parish hall at Wood Street, Youngstown.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. to preview the auction items and the auction begins at 6 p.m. Cost of a paddle is $10 and can be purchased at the door or in advance inside the vestibule before and after all weekend Masses. Additional paddles can be purchased and an "all-in paddle," enabling guests to bid on all 100-plus items, will be available for $60.

CHILDREN EVENTS: Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel Ave. NW, Warren, began two programs this month for children ages 3 to 18.

Awana, a nationwide program, will meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month 5:30 to 8 p.m..

Geronimo! will meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. This program also will offer dinner as well as skill building through creative arts, teambuilding activities, music and tutoring sessions.

Special guest is national recording artist Matelyn Alicia Johnson of Akron, who will worship by singing some of her contemporary gospel songs. She worked for nearly 10 years with the NC Black Repertory Company which included several more mainstage appearances in the National Black Theater Festivals.

THE WAY TO SERIES: Believers Church has invited Trumbull County Children Services to host a series of presentations on hot topics that affect the community. The topics will be explained so that the participants can be equipped to overcome any family adversity. TCCS Executive Director Tim Schaffner and agency supervisors will give a brief presentation on the series of topics and will conclude with an open discussion. Presentations will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, at Believers Church on Schenley Avenue NE.

Topics are Resources in Our Community, Trauma Informed Care, Who is the iGen, and Addiction and the Family's Adversity.
