MECCA -- Township trustees at a special meeting Friday took the first step for placing a five-year, 1-mill general fund operating levy on the November ballot.
Trustee Fritz Birkhimer said the county auditor's office will certify the exact millage and amount to raise $46,000 annually for the general fund. He said money will be used for parks and salaries.
He estimates the owner of a $100,000 home will pay less than $50 a year.
