WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday
PRESENT: Ramon French and Doug Seemann
ABSENT: Mark Web
Trustees:
• Heard from Zoning Board Chairwoman Elaine Mastromatteo who said there has been discussion on passing a resolution on regulating injection wells and addressing how emergency first-responder crews will deal with chemical cleanup and treating people affected by any chemical. Mastromatteo said she obtained information from Mansfield on what they did to regulate and suggested trustees also prepare a resolution on any concerns for spills or accidents to protect residents and water. The next zoning meeting is Feb. 14;
• Will contact the county engineer's office about a standing water problem on Miller South Road. Seemann said officials will check to see if a nearby stream has become plugged, causing a backup problem on the roadbed and ditch;
• Heard from French the old doctor's office and barbershop buildings will continue being worked on when weather improves. Plans are for a dedication of the two buildings at the center the weekend before Memorial Day;
• Approved $3,092 to Hudson Communication for installation of new marks radio equipment and apparatus. Fire Chief Tom Dempsey said the Trumbull County 911 Center also will have the radios by summer to enhance communication;
• Approved payment of $49,571 to pay off a bank loan for the ambulance;
• Discussed looking at prices for an electronic message sign for the center;
• Apppointed Robin Martorana and Christian Ash, both for five-year terms on zoning commission;
• Decided to leave pine trees at Sager Cemetery alone since they are too far away from the parking area for vehicles and cemetery markers to cause a problem;
• Recognized Ken Weeks for his 15 years of service on the zoning commission and his involvement with updating zoning codes;
• Met in executive session on possible employment of road department personnel. No action was taken.
