WHAT: City council meeting Monday
PRESENT: Dennis Linville, Deidre Petrosky, James Edwards, Patti Keller, Don Moore, Kevin Piros and Mayor Jim Woofter
ABSENT: Scott Rowley
Council:
• Approved the purchase of a 2018 Ford Braun Express ambulance from Penn Care in Niles through the state's cooperative purchasing program at $135,000. The city received a $160,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Community Facilities Loan Fund for the vehicle and equipment;
• Approved purchase of a power load system and floor mount from Southeastern Emergency Equipment, not to exceed $24,000, for the ambulance. The USDA loan will cover costs. Fire Chief David Rea said the equipment will be installed by the manufacturer;
• Announced mosquito spraying will be held Wednesday evening;
• Announced brush and wood chipping pickup will be the week of Aug. 28, with items to be placed at curbside Sunday evening, and fall cleanup will be Sept. 28 and 29, with items to be put out with trash;
•l Announced the Veterans Memorial committee will hold a truck show 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the downtown area;
• Rescheduled the next meeting to 7 p.m. Sept. 5 due to Labor Day.

Mecca
WHAT: Township trustees meeting Monday
PRESENT: Fritz Birkhimer, Dan Galbincea and Jim Governor
Trustees:
• Will have catch basins put in near the fire department off state Route 46 as water from the front of the fire department property is running down Causeway Driveway and a nearby hill and causing flooding. Galbincea said the catch basins will be put in 50 feet from the road to get it off the property. The township will do the work;
• Are discussing purchasing an additional 300 feet from back of West Mecca Cemetery off Hoagland Blackstub Road for cemetery space.
